Certificate in Learning Islam Through Al-Quran (CLIQ)

ABOUT THE COURSE
CLIQ is a 2-years Islamic learning course that is based on a unique approach in teaching Islam to adults. Each topic begins with a relevant Quranic verse that students have to read together. Discussions on the topic will involve the usual religious viewpoints and also logical arguments / scientific rationales that could help students understand and better appreciate the topic taught.

PREREQUISTES
Age 14 years and above

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION
The medium of instruction is English.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of course, students will be able to:
1. discuss the relevance of Islamic knowledge to the modern world
2. explain the logical and/or scientific justifications behind some of the Islamic rulings and principals
3. identify the structure of Islamic learning
4. appreciate Islamic Syariah as primary source of guidance

MODULES
There are four modules:
1. Tauhid (Theology)
2. Fiqh (Ethics)
3. Akhlak (Jurisprudence)
4. Sirah (Prophet’s history)

DURATION OF STUDY
Minimum 2 years for to complete all 4 modules. However students are free to take any module on its own or complete all four at their own pace.

DAY AND TIME
Every Saturday, 12.00 – 1.30 pm

SEMESTER
Semester 1: January to April
Semester 2: July to October
There are 16 sessions in each semester. Please refer to our Academic Calendar for the dates.

INTAKES
Two intakes every year: January and July.

2020 – Sem 1 : Akhlak |  Sem 2: Tauhid
2021 – Sem 1 : Fiqh | Sem 2: Sirah
2022 – Sem 1 : Akhlak | Sem 2: Tauhid

ASSESSMENTS
There is no exam for this course. Instead, marks will be taken from the following:
Attendance: 10%
Participation in class: 20%
Exercises for each lesson: 70%
Passing grades are A to C. Non-passing grade is U (Ungraded).

AWARDMENT OF CERTIFICATES
Students who completed each semester will be awarded a certificate with grades from the assessments given.

Course and material fees : $250 / semester
