Weekend Madrasah
Weekend Madrasah offers Islamic education totally in English. It uses textbooks written by Dr Firdaus Yahya specifically for this madrasah. The textbook is structured in Question-and-Answer format. Click here for a sample page of the textbook.
The instructional framework for this Madrasah is based on the IKAT approach. It stands for:
I : Inquiry
K : Knowledge
A : Activity
T : Test
This Weekend Madrasah consists 3 levels:
1. Kids (7-8 years old)
2. Tweens (9-10 years old)
3. Teens (11-12 years old)
At the end of the study, students will be able to:
- Analyse and apply the fundamentals of fiqh in the domain of Ibadat
- Remember and comprehend all the discussions under Tauhid
- Demonstrate the Islamic behavior
- Understand the life story of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w
- Recite and/or memorise certain surahs of Al-Quran
The Madrasah is conducted fully in English.

Madrasah syllabus has four features:
- Spiral approach. Topics that must be learnt at all levels are designed to be increasing in its difficulty and complexity as the student progresses to higher levels.
- Contextual. Certain topics are introduced at certain level when the student has reached certain age to be relevant and practical for the student.
- Revisional. Since new students might join at different levels for Year 1 of that level, the salient discussions of each subject is repeated at the start of Year 1 of each level.
- Structural. Topics for each subject are structured around several key points at all levels. Learning at each level is not linear but clustered around those key points. But across all levels, sequential progression can be observed.
The following are the keypoints for each subject:
Tauhid
1. Belief in Allah: Allah’s Names and Attributes
2. Belief in Angels: Angels’ names and duties; Jinn and Iblis
3. Belief in the Books: Al-Quran, Taurat, Injil, Zabur, Suhuf
4. Belief in the Prophet: 25 Prophets, Ulul Azmi Miracles, Proof of Prophethood of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w
5. Belief in the Day of Judgment: Signs, events, resurrection, heaven, hell
6. Belief in Qada’ and Qadar
Fiqh
1. Taharah: Types of water, istinjak, najis, ablution
2. Prayer: Methods, rukun, wajib, types, azan, recitations during prayer
3. Fasting: Methods, types, qadak, fidyah, beginning of Ramadan
4. Zakat: Wealth and Fitrah
5. Food: halal, haram, doubtful, slaughter
6. Others: Mahram, buying and selling, usury, marriage, divorce

Kids and Tweens
Grade for each subject will be based on class assessments and participation. There is no end of semester exam.
Teens
Marks will based on the end of semester’s open book exam. This format allows students to search for and think about the answer.
- Result Slip will be given to students after end of each semester.
- Graduation certificate will be give to those who have completed all three levels.
Students who are able to understand Malay are encouraged to further their studies at Belia level in Madrasah Mingguan Darul Huffaz. Alternatively, they can wait until they are 15 years old to join the Certificate in Learning Islam Through Al-Quran (CLI
